Work Ready Credential (WRC)

The Work Ready Credential (WRC) was developed by the Great Cincinnati Business Advisory Council to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It builds upon the skill-based foundation of the OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal, adding a critical next step—allowing students to demonstrate mastery of professional skills in authentic, long-term workplace contexts.

Students earning this credential show employers that they not only understand employability skills but can apply them effectively in a real work environment.

How It Works

1. Build Professional Skills

The WRC curriculum is aligned with the professional skill indicators required for the OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal. Participating districts have free access to lesson plans and instructional materials to support skill development.

2. Engage in Work-Based Learning

Students participate in meaningful work-based learning experiences through partnerships with regional industry leaders. These experiences allow students to practice, refine, and demonstrate the professional skills they’ve developed in the classroom. Students must earn 30 work-based learning hours for the completion of the credential.

3. Earn the Credential

Once students have completed both the curriculum and their work-based learning experience, they may take the assessment to earn the Work Ready Credential.

When a student is ready to complete the Work Ready Credential assessment, please contact Helena Spikes for invoicing and release of the assessment tool. Credentials will be verified with a passing score on the assessment and work-based learning hours submitted within the assessment. GCBAC school will receive a significantly reduced cost of $35 per student.
