GCBAC applies for Google AI Essentials Industry Recognized Credential

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Greater Cincinnati Business Advisory Council is proud to announce its application to establish a new Industry Recognized Credential.

The Greater Cincinnati Business Advisory Council and regional industry partners have collaborated to propose the Google AI Essentials Industry Recognized Credential — a statewide opportunity for students to gain foundational skills in artificial intelligence, productivity, and responsible technology use.

This credential is built upon Google’s AI Essentials curriculum, a beginner-level, self-paced program designed to help learners understand and apply AI in real-world settings. Through short video lessons, readings, and hands-on activities, students learn to use generative AI tools, write effective prompts, and apply AI responsibly in school, work, and community contexts.

Participating districts will deliver the Google AI Essentials curriculum to help students build essential digital literacy and career-ready AI skills.
Upon completion, students earn a Google Career Certificate, signaling readiness for a workforce increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

The course covers:

  • Generative AI Fundamentals
  • Prompt Writing & Iteration
  • AI Productivity Tools
  • Responsible & Ethical AI Use
  • Human–AI Collaboration
  • Future Readiness in AI

Artificial intelligence is transforming every industry. By earning this credential, students demonstrate not only technical literacy but also critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability—skills that today’s employers value most.

The Greater Cincinnati BAC submitted this application for review in partnership with Google and regional business leaders. If approved, the credential will be available to Ohio students beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.

Updates will be shared here as the approval process continues.
